Memory Brick Fundraiser
Support the Herron Center and become part of its history with a personalized memory brick. These engraved paving bricks will form a sidewalk from the old school to the “Swinging Girls” statue on the Herron Center grounds. Bricks may be purchased in honor or memory of loved ones, to celebrate former students, teachers, Board members, or simply to show your support.
Bricks are $50 each. To order, download the order form, print and complete it, then mail it with your check.
Why Give?
Charitable giving isn’t just for the wealthy—gifts of any size make a difference. More than 80% of Americans give to nonprofit organizations during their lifetimes, yet only a small percentage continue that support through a gift in their will. By planning ahead, you can help preserve the Eddie Mae Herron Center for future generations.
Giving Through a Will
A charitable bequest is simply including the Eddie Mae Herron Center in your will. You can:
Leave a percentage of your estate (general bequest).
Leave a specific item or amount (specific bequest).
Leave what remains after other gifts are made (residuary bequest).
Working with an attorney ensures your wishes are carried out clearly and avoids potential disputes. Without a will, state laws—not you—decide how your assets are distributed.
Giving Through a Trust
A living trust is another way to provide for both your loved ones and causes you care about. Unlike a will, a trust avoids probate, allows faster distribution of assets, and keeps your plans private. You can:
Name yourself as trustee during your lifetime.
Provide for a spouse or family member first, then direct assets to the Herron Center.
Appoint a professional trustee to manage investments, bills, and distributions.
Trusts offer flexibility, privacy, and peace of mind while ensuring your legacy continues.
The Impact of Your Gift
Whether large or small, your planned gift helps the Eddie Mae Herron Center preserve African American history, build bridges across communities, and inspire future generations.
