The Herron Center had a concession stand at Pocahontas’ Riverfront Park Saturday June 30 as part of the National Canoe Races being held on the Black and Current Rivers. 2007 Black History Month Events

Events were Co-Sponsored by Eddie Mae Herron Center and Black River Technical College February 2 The movies “Hoxie” The First Stand” and “Education in Craighead County from 1900-1967 – A Way Out For African-Americans” will be shown at the Herron Center. February 5 & 7 Quilt Show at the Herron Center. Quilts will be displayed and local quilters Mrs. Helen McCarroll, Mrs. Agnes Young and Mrs. Anna Cook will be present to demonstrate quilting. Mrs. Cook will also be available to discuss her recently self published book, The Point, and to sign copies. February 12, 13 & 14 Quilt Show at the Herron Center. February 16 The movies “A Time For Justice – America’s Civil Rights Movement”, “Mighty Times – The Legacy of Rosa Parks” and “Mighty Times – The Children’s March” will be shown at the Herron Center. February 17 Annual Herron Center “Hog Killin'”…everything but the squeal. Demonstration of old-time hog butchering, cooking of “cracklins”, rendering of lard, sausage making. Pot luck lunch at noon. Gospel Singing at The Randolph Music Theater (old Imperial Theater downtown) as a fund raiser for the Herron Center to help retire the loan on our recently purchased parking lot property.
