Celia Anderson visited the Eddie Mae Herron Center on March 18, 2011 to sign her latest book “Daddy’s Home”. The book signing was followed by a luncheon hosted at the center. Celia Anderson is one of today’s best and brightest upcoming authors. Her stories and articles both educate and inspire. Ms. Anderson holds a Master’s Degree from the University of Arkansas which speaks volumes about her commitment to education. She is quoted as saying her love for higher education, books, and competitive spirit are what drive her most. Anna Cook Book Signing

The Eddie Mae Herron Center is honored to host a book signing for Mrs. Anna Cook at the Center on January 27, 2007 from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. Mrs. Cook loves to write and she has recently self published “The Point,” a history of the Fairview and New Friendship communities and their rich history and the families who lived there in the past and their descendants who live there today. Mrs. Cook states the reason she wrote “The Point” was because she felt the history of those communities were slipping away and it needed to be captured. Mrs. Cook said she is so appreciative of all the help and support she received from the Fairview and New Friendship residents. She stated that her association with these communities goes back to 1957 when she drove down the road to visit her boyfriend, Ralph Cook, Jr.. They married in 1960. This is the 3rd book on history Mrs. Cook has written. Her first book was published in 1990 and was entitled “Feed Sacks”. Mrs. Cook graduated from the Imboden schools and then went onto graduate from Arkansas State University. She taught 3rd grade for 13 years at Black Rock. Presentation and Book Signing Hosted at Herron Center

The Eddie Mae Herron Center hosted a PowerPoint slide presentation and book signing by author Dr. Jan Zeigler Thursday, June 9. About thirty five people from northeast Arkansas attended the presentation on Dr. Tyler’s recently published book on the subject of “relocation camps” built in Arkansas during World War II to house Japanese Americans who were moved from California during the war. The presentation reminded many in attendance of some dark days in American history, and also called attention to some similarities between the experiences of discrimination shared by both African and Japanese Americans....
